When I bought this, I was told it was a "hanken mono" but he didn't know the full story behid it. I bought the cel from a respectable Japanese dealer, at a very low price, so I know it's not technically a "fake", but that he wasn't sure and (due to the damage) he let it go cheap and left me to investigate. I did track down where the cel might have been used, see the Bandai Carddass trading card below. However, I noticed that on the card more of Akane's skirt is painted, and more of her legs are shown, than in my cel. Other than that, it looks exactly the same. Due to the age (and condition) of the cel, and its similarity to the card, I am assuming that this cel was painted as a "practice cel" or perhaps due to the rip (above left) it was discarded and a new one was painted. I can't imagine that both cels were not done by the same artist, as thee art is incredible, and the same. Every line is supremely detailed, especially the fine lace patterns in Akane's underskirt and I don't envy the time that was spent on her hair. It's a very nice cel, and I am lucky to have it ^_^.
